Busay Road in Cebu City was a favorite hang-out spot of locals in the 80s. As the road ascends, one can breathe in the view of the city while having a picnic, eating chicheria or merienda, drinking beer or wine – alone or with friends. Over the years, there has been a growing number of mostly Cebuano-owned restaurants where the simple experience of eating with a view is elevated.
Balay sa Busay, Cebu
Balay sa Busay is one of the restaurants in Busay where people can have such experience. Opening in September 2018, it is a Filipino-themed restaurant run by the Cebu Golden Restaurant Corporation, the company behind Hukad and Golden Cowrie. Balay sa Busay Restaurant serves modern Filipino food, offering a different interpretation of traditional Filipino and Spanish dishes.
The view at Busay offers an unobstructed view of Cebu, and in Balay sa Busay you can dine and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the skyline in their al fresco dining area. It looks like a typical house on the outside that seems almost residential; but the high ceiling, the home-like interior and the huge windows that let in more air and natural light are parts of their sophisticated bahay kubo aesthetic. The smell of the familiar yet mouth-watering lutong-bahay is just the cherry on top.
