Green Day throughout the years

Green Day is an iconic band of the punk scene and has remained at the forefront of popular music since the nineties. Their most famous tracks are easily timeless classics for every Gen Y kid and any Green Day fan, some of which include “American Idiot”, “Basket Case”, and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”.

The band was formed in 1986. It comprises singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool. They rose from the underground punk scene to become one of the most commercially successful American rock bands in the last two decades. The band has become a staple in modern day pop culture, and Green Day concerts are always known to fill stadiums and sell out.

Throughout their career the band has won multiple music awards, including five Grammy Awards. Their 1994 commercial breakthrough Dookie won Best Alternative Music Performance in 1995, while their 2004 hit album American Idiot picked up Best Rock Album in 2004.

Their seventh studio album, American Idiot, was given a stage adaptation on Broadway. It won two Tony Awards in 2010 and a Grammy in 2011. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

The Asian tour is the start of a global tour which also includes other Asian countries like Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea.

The tour begins just a month after the release of their much-awaited 13th album titled Father of All Motherfuckers on February 7, 2020. The first single, “Father of All…” was already released on September 10 last year. It was their first single in four years after the release of their last album, Revolution Radio, which dropped in 2016.
