• Cacao ceremony

Kymberly Maitland-Smith, the social entrepreneur who founded Soul Sierra, advocates for cacao ceremony, an old ritual that originates to Mayan and Aztec traditions. She said it is a great avenue to silence the mind while connecting to the wisdom and spirit within you. 

They use pure cacao in Soul Sierra, which is used for awakening, inner healing, and creative guidance as well as for spiritual, ceremonial and medicinal purposes. During the ceremony, guests are made to sit in a circle. They will set intentions, pray, sing together with music or sound healing, share their thoughts depending on the ceremony master, consume the cacao together and perform a group dance.

• Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese practice which promotes energy healing. It is an alternative medicine for stress reduction and relaxation. Reiki practitioners place their hands either directly on you or above you to stimulate your body’s natural healing abilities. This technique is called “palm healing” or “hands-on healing”.

• Sound healing

Sound healing or sound bath uses vibrational sound therapy. It uses special sounds to produce vibrations and incorporates it with musical instruments, such as crystal bowl and gemstone bowl. This is done with mellow repetitive vibrations at different frequencies bringing focus away from thoughts – all while the guest is lying or sitting –  to bathe their energetic space.

True to their promise of bringing tranquillity to the soul, Soul Sierra opens its garden that allows you to commune with nature. For Php300, you can enjoy a cup of coffee, a croissant, and a panoramic view filled with blooming flowers and plants. 

The garden is a natural art exhibition. The flora that teems here are carefully selected flowers and are well-maintained by the staff. Cleanliness is strictly observed here as it is believed to be an integral part of the meditative experience. There aren’t a lot of people here, so a quiet time with the lovely vegetation surrounding you is guaranteed here.

How to get to Soul Sierra

The exact location of Soul Sierra is at Babag Uno, Busay, Cebu City. It is 3km after Temple of Leah and 20-30 minutes away from JY Square Mall. You will reach the only chapel with a road going right. Take that road for about 600m, and you will have reached the place.

To get there via jeepneys, ride one going to Busay coded 04L or 04H and tell the driver to drop you off to JY Square. From there, ride a habal-habal and tell the driver to drop you off to Soul Sierra. One-way fare is Php100 per person. Since Soul Sierra is quite remote, getting there via private transportation is preferable.
