Sumilon Island is a popular local destination 15-20 minutes
off the coast of Oslob in Cebu Province. It boasts of white powdery white sand
beaches, pristine blue waters, and the famous Sumilon Island sandbar stretching
to about a hundred meters.
Sumilon Island has been protected as a marine sanctuary since 1974 and is the first marine protected area in the Philippines. It is privately owned by Bluewater Island Resort so access is restricted to the sandbar for non-guests. A day on the island with Bluewater Island Resort is priced at P1500 during weekdays and P2000 during weekends. You can spend less if you are only looking to have some fun at the sandbar.
